Disclosure brought Deep House back, and our “Artist Of The Month” for August took it to the mainstage, with his mean moves behind the decks and his animal affection. Our artist of the month for August 2015 is the man who’s on fire at the moment, 20 year old superkid Oliver Heldens.

Hailing from Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Oliver announced his arrival in style when his track ‘Gecko’ became one of the runaway smash hits of 2013, earning him overnight recognition and a place on Tiësto’s Musical Freedom label. Oliver had previously released two tracks called ‘Stinger’ and ‘Thumper’ on Spinnin Records.

In January last year, Oliver launched his very first mixtape called Heldeep. His first mixtape included his remix of Martin Garrix’s song of the year in 2013, “Animals”.

Heldens’ effort to change the big room track into a deep house banger earned him further recognition. Heldens also made appearances at EDC, Amnesia Ibiza, Tomorrowland, Departures Ushuaia Ibiza, Creamfields, Electric Zoo Festival, Veld Music Festival and Stereosonic during the festival season last year.

Meanwhile Gecko was released with vocals as ‘Overdrive’,and made it to the UK top 5.

Later last year, Heldens released ‘Koala’ which yet again became a rage. Similarly, a vocal version was released as ‘Last All Night’, and went on to become Heldens’ second UK top 5 track.

Oliver subsequently made his debut into the DJ Mag Top 100, debuting at number 34.

Oliver released a remix of Dr Kucho and Gregor Salto’s ‘Can’t Stop Playing’ which proved to be yet another massive hit, and he followed it up with a Sander van Doorn collaboration called ‘This’ as well as a Zeds Dead collaboration called ‘You Know’. He also released another single called ‘Pikachu’.

Oliver reached another milestone when he launched his own podcast ‘Heldeep Radio’, which is one of the most widely followed podcasts now.

He recently released a track called ‘Shades of Grey’ apart from announcing his alias Hi-Lo, under which he has released two tracks so far – ‘Crank It Up’ and ‘Renegade Mastah’.

The pace at which he’s progressing, leaves no doubt that he’ll become one of the top artists on the scene very soon.
