Teddi Mellencamp is getting real about her romance again, but this time, there’s someone new in the picture, and she’s finally confirming it.
On a recent episode of her “Two Ts In a Pod” podcast with Tamra Judge, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum hard-launched her new romance, revealing that she’s dating someone who has been a source of kindness and support during a deeply challenging time. The reveal comes as Teddi continues her public battle with stage 4 melanoma, which has recently spread to her lungs. Still, she’s finding light in a very personal connection.
“I’m dating somebody,” Teddi said, smiling. “He’s very kind to me. He’s taking good care of me.” Though she kept his name under wraps, she shared a few details, he’s not married, has no kids, and prefers to keep a low profile. That said, Teddi isn’t hiding him entirely. She just wanted to be the one to break the news before the rumor mill spiraled out of control.
It turns out paparazzi have already been on the case, sitting outside her house and tailing her around Orange County just to catch a glimpse of the mystery man. But Teddi, unbothered, said there’s no scandal here. “There’s no big story to tell,” she admitted, even laughing about how she occasionally flips off the photographers following her around.
While her new guy seems chill about the media attention, Teddi wanted to make sure he was okay with the public nature of her life. She recalled asking him directly if she should mention him on the podcast. “It’s really whatever you want to do,” he responded. “I know you’re a public person.” That level of support means a lot, especially since not everyone she’s dated recently has been that understanding.
Less than three months ago, Teddi got brutally honest about how dating with cancer hasn’t been easy. On another podcast episode, this time Diamonds in the Rough with Erika Jayne, she shared a story about a former love interest she called “Bob.” They had gone on several dates, and things were looking good. “He was great, funny, and nice,” Teddi said. The last time they saw each other was at a Super Bowl party. But just two days later, her world turned upside down.
Teddi ended up in the hospital after suffering a health scare and was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors. Her ex-husband, Edwin Arroyave, whom she split from in November, took her to the ER. Doctors discovered the tumors, and Teddi later underwent surgery to remove them. Sadly, her cancer later spread to her lungs, which she announced publicly in March.
After her diagnosis, she called “Bob” to explain what was going on, only to be hit with one of the most insensitive questions imaginable. “Bob [called me and said], ‘I was talking with my mom, and we both need to know if you’re going to be in a place to have more kids,’” she remembered. “I cried and said, ‘You’re really hurting my feelings. I don’t think now’s the time to have that conversation’.” Unsurprisingly, the spark fizzled after that.
But now, things feel different. Teddi’s found someone who isn’t just okay with her reality, he’s stepping up. While she’s choosing to keep his identity a secret for now, the vibe is already way more solid. He respects her privacy, understands her public role, and, most importantly, makes her feel cared for.
It’s refreshing to see Teddi Mellencamp opening a new chapter while fighting for her health. With three kids, Slate, Cruz, and Dove, and a whole lot on her plate, she’s still managing to prioritize herself and her happiness. And as she puts it, there’s no scandal here, no drama, just a woman finding peace and companionship during one of the hardest periods of her life.
